Historic Eugene: Voices and Places

Welcome!

The beautiful city of Eugene, Oregon is located in the Southern Willamette Valley near the joining of the Willamette and McKenzie rivers. Eugene citizens often refer affectionately to their community as the "Emerald Empire," "Tracktown, USA," or the proud home of the "University of Oregon Ducks."

The Eugene area has a rich history that began before the arrival of the first European fur traders and pioneers. Unfortunately, many of the historic places and voices from the past have been lost or forgotten as the community grew into the bustling city that it is today. This website is an attempt to gather into one place some of the voices and places of the past.
