Oregon Museums Association: www.oregonmuseums.org; The Oregon Museums Association (OMA) is a non-profit membership organization that provides resources and services to over 200 museums, cultural institutions and associated professionals throughout Oregon. The OMA serves as an advocate for museums who actively promote the collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation of artistic, historic, scientific and cultural materials, sites, practices, and ideas.

Oregon Cultural Trust: www.culturaltrust.org; The Cultural Trust is a statewide cultural plan to raise significant new funds to invest in Oregon's arts, humanities and heritage. Funds will be distributed to local communities to support their cultural priorities, through competitive grants for projects of regional and statewide significance, and through grants to Oregon's statewide cultural agencies to support their ongoing efforts.

History of the Mowhawk Valley, Oregon: mohawk.historiceugene.com; This site has information regarding all aspects of the Mohawk Valley in Oregon. The region has had numerous schools and historic sites over the years, many of which have disappeared over time. This site will help you discover the lost treasures of the area.

Benton County Museum: www.bentoncountymuseum.org; The Benton County Historical Museum artifact collection comprises approximately 66,000 items that illustrate the diverse themes of our Benton County, Oregon heritage. This extensive collection of Benton County related history materials includes 22,000 objects, maps, books, and documents, and approximately 44,000 images. Areas of collecting are based on local themes ranging from logging to technology to the arts, as well as specific topics such as Camp Adair, a World War II Military cantonment, and Philomath College, a United Brethren College that now houses the Museum.

The Covered Bridge Society of Oregon: www.covered-bridges.org; The Covered Bridge Society of Oregon was founded in 1978 to ensure that Oregon's covered bridges would be preserved for future generations. Members work with legislators, local governments, news organizations and historical societies to provide funding, maintenance and protection to save the state's roofed bridges.

American Pioneers: library.thinkquest.org; A fantastic site that provides children with a descriptive and accurate view of what life was really like for pioneers on the Oregon Trail. Includes pioneer recipes, how-to articles, activities, and links to other fun sites.
Smithsonian - History & Culture for Kids: www.smithsonianeducation.org; A variety of articles, games and activities for kids on a diverse range of topics from the Presidency to the Wright Brothers.
Tracking the Buffalo: www.americanhistory.si.edu; Unique and interesting activities that explore the role of bison (commonly called buffalo) in the lives of the American Indians of the northern plains. Created by the Smithsonian Musuem of American History, this site also includes activities for teachers.
Building a Sod House: americanhistory2.si.edu; Discover clues, answer questions, and watch your sod house grow! Kids learn about a common pioneer home and also have the opportunity to explore other activities. Another fun site developed by the Smithsonian.
Lane County's Ghost Towns!: www.ghosttowns.com; Kids can learn about Oregon's ghost towns, including three in Lane County. Parents can get driving directions to the abandoned towns of Bohemia City, Wendling, and Mabel, all of which are just a short drive from Eugene/Springfield!
